Hi all,

I am a new TOAD user, I installed TOAD in the machine and trying to connect to oracle server, when i am trying to create a new connection it is showing "no clients installed" error.

my doubts are:

1.Is oracle client compulsory in the machine where TOAD is installed?

2.Is there any alternate to connect to server without Oracle client installtion for ex: odbc drivers etc...

Please let me know your comments and suggestions which are very helpful.

Thanks,
Ravikumar

If I remember well, such a question has been asked here recently. Try to find the answer using OraFAQ Forum's Search facility.

Thank you, but that's not the point; I could have searched for it myself, but Ravikumar wouldn't learn how to use Search (or even read OraFAQ Forum Guide to learn how to help himself to get a quick answer to his question(s)).

hi all,
thanks for the help, i searched in the forum and got the answer.
as per the forum the answer is
either
use OraCMD -command prompt for oracle
OR
Install Oracle Client.

is there any other way to connect to database through TOAD without installing oracle client?

this would help me not to purchage a new oracle client licence.

Thanks,
Ravikumar
