I have to collect a new spectacles; just recently I've discovered show what people are doing (after spending more than two years here); usually, it is too boring as most of people are Anonymous (BTW, could they be moved to the end of list?). A few minutes ago, scrolling down, I saw something non-uniform. You know, if there's a column and contains 5-digit numbers, you scroll through the list and suddenly you see a 7-digit number - whoa, what's that?

Well, the same happened here. It was this message, which made me smile:

/forum/fa/2973/0/

It is something like those hidden stuff, as when you click on Help - About, there's a company logo, you double click on it and there they are - CEO and Co. when they were kids.

I wonder if there's something you saw and you liked it (or perhaps not), but was completely unexpected.

Although this is supposed to be a technical forum, there are people looking for another kind of to_date function.

Wow, in just a 24 hour span, we had the funniest post to this date (this one) and the most unformatted post to this date (this one: http://www.orafaq.com/forum/m/263613/66800/#msg_263613). And we are all living during the tenure of the worst US president ever (notice I didn't use "to this date"). What are to odds?

Huh, did you check "Edit" button on that unformatted post? Not that it is not formatted (i.e. that it just looks so because it doesn't have [code] tags), but it really IS posted that way. Gee, I wonder how he did that!

Yeah, I meant that it was so hard to read, even if CODE tags were put in.

Man got tired of having that nickname for several years now, so he decided to change it significantly (so that noone could recognize him).

Very Happy

PS I don't have blue wings! They are purple!
Or maybe those blue things are not wings but some weird hair extensions... well, that's purple too, so it doesn't really matter.

No, I don't know Sabine.

Actually, in real life I've never met anyone I know from virtual life.

Horns?? Hey, up till now I was sort of flattered, now I'm not so sure...

And Frank, the idea about virtual is that you don't refer to my appearence and/or attitude in real life. Don't spoil the illusion... Rolling Eyes

This is not exactly "undiscovered" as it is clearly visible. However: there are several non-English Forums available here:
Quote:

Available Forums: Arabic Dutch French German Japanese Portuguese **Russian **Spanish

Why do Russian and Spanish forum have two asterisks in front of their names?

It's a "new messages" indicator.

What does this term, actually, mean? "Unconfirmed user" ... I always thought it was someone who filled info (username and password) through the registration form, but still didn't reply the "welcome e-mail" in order to become a real member.

Now there's this situation:

/forum/fa/3306/0/

User who is still unconfirmed, but managed to post several messages. If that's possible, where's the point in "confirming" forum membership?

I guess the user had problems confirming his account via e-mail, so I did it for him.

What happens with deleted messages? Are they really deleted, or do they have some kind of "deleted flag" set to 'Y' (or whatever) and are, actually, still accessible if necessary? I *know* us, mortals, can not do that, but - could you, Frank Naude, do it (and perhaps David or ... hm, I think noone else at the moment)?

P.S. No, I haven't deleted a message by accident; it is just a theoretical question.

No, messages cannot be un-deleted. All that remains of it is a log record showing who deleted it.

To recover deleted messages we will have to restore the entire system to a prior time (not likely to happen)!

Not exactly related to our forum, but never mind. I just enjoyed seeing this part:
LOAD "ORAFAQ FORUM: WELCOME TO THE FORUM".8
LOADING
READY.

RUN
As if it was Commodore 64!

It is Opera who did that - there's an "Author mode" option which allows you to choose "Nostalgia" (among other possibilities). And this is how it looks like!

Another snooping on other people says this:

/forum/fa/7771/0/

I guess that that particular user found a topic (in Google, for example) which is placed into the Moderator discussions forum and, as it is not public, got such a message. Any other idea?

I think you are misunderstanding the message. It is not that they do not have permission. It is that you do not have permission. There is some time delay. If you have just logged in, then you will get that for most people. If you stay connected and logged in for a long time, then check it, you will find few or none. If you log out again, you will see more of them again each time you refresh the page.
