Yesterday I had a chat with one of our DBA's (an ORA600 kind of guy) who was reluctant to go for an OCM. He said it was, because of the mandatory classes, a lot of money for what it represents. The OCM is all about true DBA actions: Creating a failover system, letting a standby database take over, ... so at least it's about real life situations and not about memorizing answers.

But that's just one guy's opinion of course.

Do you have your OCP?

Good luck!

Hi Maheer,

Thanks for your reply, I am oracle certified professoinal for 9i and 10g and now planning for OCM, as you mentioned it requires two mandatee classes and luckily I have completed that mandatee classes from my company.

It's two day's hands on test, It's about managing the databases rather memorazing answers. What I have got information from Oracle site is exams is for 16 Hours practical test (8 Hours each day) and they will gives you 8 real time scenario.. that are based on exam objectives.... but this exams fees is very high.. it's cost $2000.

Regards,
Harsh

@Ashu: OCM is a DBA track. You need to be an Oracle Certified DBA instead of developer. For you, it wouldn't make sense. You first have to get a DBA OCP and then an OCM.
