Hello,

I need to implement a cross site database config and will have 2 sites. Site A Primary DB, Site B Standby DB. My observer will sit an a location other than Site A and B, as per recommendations from Oracle.

Problem I am having is that I would like to have the ability to auto failover to the standby, following a time out, but I have ready that fast start failover can only be used with Maximum availability configurations. Problem is, my WAN link will not support it. Best I can hope for out of the three possible configurations is 'Maximum Performance" which is asynchronous redo shipping. Can auto failover still take place in this mode? and can fast start failover be used. Also using asynchronous, is it possible to specify how often the redo logs are shipped?

Any advice would be appreciated
