hi all,

iam new in data guarding in 10G R2 i read oracle book about broker and configuration but whole configuration fail
i have to windows server to copy of oracle and i install
to database
primary :
GLOBAL NAME: DGPRIM
SID : DGPRIM

standby :

GLOBAL NAME: DGSTAND
SID : DGSTAND

both initial parameter set as below
primary :
dg_broker_start=true
standby_management = auto
remote_archive_enable=false (when i set it true it make a crash as well as log_archive_start)
log_archive_dest_1= location=c:\temp\archivce(server1)
i did not configure the dest_2 coz it not mintion in the book
standby:
dg_broker_start=true

standby_archive_destination=c:\temp\archivce (server2)
also i did not configure the dest_2 coz it not mention in the book

i restart the both database then i run the dgmgrl in the primary
and both of them in open
and i configure the lsnr and it work prop.
and i add the services in both
dgmgrl>
1- create the configuration
2- add the standby database
maxpefromence
since i enable the configuration
i have this error
ora16009 remote arhive log destination must be standby database

sorry i wrote alote but just to make sure what i did is right
or i have to do some thing which is not in the book
and pllllz i need a hand coz realy i lost and i have to submit after 1 week
plz a some details and thanx in advance

whats fal_server and fal_client set to in primary and standby?

Try to set them to proper value.

fal_client : primary_sid
fal_server : standby_sid

standby
fal_client : standby_sid
fal_server : primary_sid

looks good.

Please verify tnsping works on primary_sid and standby_sid values.

Also, have you created standby database in normal way? Shutdown primary..copy files and then create standby controlfile and then mount standby?

thank very much for replay
should be standby database in mount mode
should i copy the datafile from primary to standby or its optional coz i did i copy all data file and redo file except the
temp datafile to standby i started up i have an error

i will do what did u say

please read 10g data guard manual to get step by step install instructions for data guard.

physical standby
