Yes, It is possible to downgrade the data from 8i
to 8.0.5.

You could lose data which uses new functionality
of oracle 8i which is not there in 8.0.5.

Yes you can always do that by import and export utilities. Just install two Oracle homes on your machines one for Oracle8i and One for Oracle8 make the Oracle8 client of Oracle8i and export the data using exp80 and now you are able to import the exported data into Oracle8 database.
