Thank you all in advance!
Server: Windows 2003 standard Edition with 4G Memory
Oracle: oracle windows edition 9i 9.2.0.1.0.

Try to assign abount 920 MB to oracle SGA,48 TO PGA.

Result:
Windows assign abount 1G memery to Oracle?
Infact the windows system has abount 3g remainder Memory!

Question:
Why the oracle system does not use the remainder memeory?

Could it be because 920 MB + 48 MB ~ 1 GB?

lzfhope,

Your question is not clear. Do you mean why Oracle is not using all the 4GB? Oracle would use only as much you have allocated. What is the value that you have set for sga_max_size?

thank you for you help!
Yes ,i wantthe system to be what you have said!
I Changed the sga settings by Oem(GUI method),not by sqls.
In fact ,these two method is the same. I know how to change the sga_max_size parameter.

Onece set sga_max_size=1G,the Vm(virtual memeory) is abount 1g,onece set sga_max_size=2g,the Vm is abount 2G.
But this upon is not the aim,i do not want the window 2003 system to use so much Virtual memeory.

Since My system has so sucm unused memeory,i hope the oracle system can use it not using the Virtual memeory.Because ,i do not know whether that could depress the oracle system performance.

Your sincerely!
