after installing oracle 8i (8.1.5) i installed developer 6i(at home on a win98se machine).
the problem is i cannot connect to the DB with the developer tools (8i sql plus is working very will)
can any one advise me how to use Net8 Easy config tool
(and which one to use 8i tool or dev6i tool).

hi mina,
Use the dev6i tool. In the net8 screens u will be asked for host name which is the name of u're machine name or u can type "localhost". U will be asked for the database SID which is the name of u're database. A service name which will be u're connect string or host string. It will ask u which protocol to use. Make that to TCP/IP. It should work. All the best. :-)
