Our Customers have a web based application that queries their sysbase database using ODBC. However we have an oracle database DB2 that they need to query it resides behind our company firewall. The system we use at the moment is to export a flat file containing the required data overnight and then import it into their database.
We would like a more efficient way to access the two disparate databases returning the data ultimately to the web browser application. What approaches should I investigate?
Can we connect the two databases, is there a way to batch schedule import export routines is there a far better approach..Can we use the front end web based technology to query the the databases separately so we dont need to import export data? I am new to this area any direction to start reading up on would be much appreciated.
