hi,
Actually i m trying to install oracle8i in solaris8 version.
first i set the kernal parameters then,
i created group and assigned the user for that group but
i find a problem while i insert the oracle8i ED cd and start running the command ./runInstaller
.At this time its showing
error:display not set
set display

i dont know wat to do at this stage,can anyone plz help me.how to resolve the issue.urgent plz.

You have assign a DISPLAY. Something like

$export DISPLAY=hostname:0.0

look into documentation. It is clearly documented.
If you are doing this from windows machine, you may need an emulator like Exceed.

hi,
i have not assigned anything like this still now.

$export DISPLAY=hostname:0.0
now wat i want to do?

can any one get me a clear picture or document abt installation of oracle8i in solaris8.
