if you can install oracle you can practise adiministering oracle by yourself.
some features are introduced/depreciated in EACH RELEASE.
like with 9i no svrmgr and introduction of undo tablespaces.

I'm a newbie and in the same boat, I want to install Oracle version 8 or 9i on my personal home computer to practice sql, sql/Plus, and pl/sql as I learn it. I'm currently a database content editor with only user permissions, however, my goal is to change all that and become a DBA.
