I have an issue, hope someone can help:

The format of date in the Discoverer report is fixed as dd/mm/yyyy, however, when the same report is exported to Excel, the date per Excel format is shown as mm/dd/yyyy. Logically, when the date structure is set to read as dd/mm/yyyy in Discoverer Format Data, the function of exporting to Excel shouldn't change the date structure.

Are there any additional steps that we need to perform in Discoverer before exporting the report to Excel or is there an Excel setting that is causing it, as the data entry at Formula Bar when u actually select a cell is correct.

Select the column, right click, and format cells... set the date format to whatever format you like.

In order to change this permanently, you should change the "Regional settings" of your Wintel box.

hi thanks for ur answer but we have thought of those. basically our users don't want any manual intervention after the report is exported to Excel due to the likelyhood of mistakes. these reports are linked to master files for checking and verification purposes. as such, the format cells method is out.

we've also tested regional settings and it seems to work but having users change such settings on each individual PCs that are doing these reports can be a hassle. if no other method surfaces, we will suggest this workaround.
