could someone tell me what the -S means in the following

 

sqlplus -S user/password @sql_script $1 $REPORT_NAME

-s or -silent -- start sqlplus in silent mode.

basically it means it doesnt show you the prompt and other stuff which you normally get when working interactively.

I want the SQL script will be able to accept values while we run those script from Shell Script.
