Dear Friends,

We have some files which are compressed in mainframes and uploaded to Unix. The unix command to uncompress these files is not working as it does not recognize the compressed file format of Mainframes. Please help us solve this problem.

Thanks in Advance

Anu

Hi,

Are these files compressed under the Open Systems (Unix) portion of OS/390? If so, it should work. Also check that you have FTP'ed the files in binary mode.

Best regards.

Hi Frank,

I do not have a clear idea about that. However this problem was solved by our clients. They had zipped these files in mainframes and uploaded them to the unix (I am not sure in which mode!). We were trying to uncompress these files assuming that these were compressed files. But we were supposed to unzip this file instead. That was the key.

Thanks for your support.

Regards,
Anu
