I attempted to increase my parallelism by setting the following:
optmizer_mode = choose
cpu_count = 4
hash_area_size = 4096
optimizer_percent_parallel = 100
parallel_max_servers = 16
db_file_multiblock_read_count = 4
hash_multiblock_io_count = 4

These were some recommendations I found in Oracle documentation. I'm still only using 1 of 4 cpu's for my joins though. When the writes commit, that's when 3 to 4 of the cpu's are used. I have several joins on the same table that I created separate .sql files for. I submitted each of these files via the unix 'at' command. I was hoping to attain parallelism this way. I don't think it's working since only one cpu is being used. I've got my sga set pretty high, so these sorts and joins are occuring in memory, however, it does not appear that the cpus are working in parallel. Where should I look next? Also, I haven't been able to find any info on statspack, where can I find some? Thanks.
