When I try to connect to a database using Discoverer 4 I get an ora-12222 tns:no such protocol adapter.
I am using Oracle 8.1.6 client, I test OK through net assistant, I can connect using sql plus, and I can connect through ODBC

Hi,
Basically it seems that you have an "ORACLE_HOME" System Variable set that points to a path other than the 32-bit Oracle home.

Delete the ORACLE_HOME System Variable as follows:

1. Go to Start --> Settings --> Control Panel --> System --> Environment tab

2. In the upper "System Variables" window, locate and highlight the variable ORACLE_HOME

3. Click the "Delete" button

4. Click "Apply"

5. Re-boot the computer .

HTH
Regards
Himanshu
