uploading mdb access file into oracle database with the help of forms [message #85368]

Hi all,
Can any one let me know how to upload mdb access file into oracle database with the help of forms. Say mdb file is the file generated from ARS(attendence recording System). This file data need to be uploaded to oracle table.. any idea?? . Is it possible with forms 6i.

You could use Open Client Adaptor - which is on the forms 6i cd. This allows you to use ODBC like a normal connection.

You can see an upload example here :-

Alternatively, you could use DDE or OLE to 'drive' Access. There is also a script for extracting data from excel/access files in the scripts download section, under windows.

Thanks Tak, But I could not get anything out of it.Can u please tell how to use DDE or OLE from forms...
also i could not see any example in http://www.geocities.com/oranails/

Presently I am running an application with forms6i , oracle 8i on 9IAS server.

You can find an ole example by doing a search on this site under the forms forum for 'FORMS OLE TRANSFERT'.

I never understood DDE well enough to use it. I have used OLE from Windows Scripting Host, but not from Forms 6i. Unfortunately, you need to learn the 'object model' associated with the ole object you are using - in this case MS Access. I dont have Access, so I cant offer any sample code. You should be able to get documentation and samples from microsoft developers network - I think its under 'office'.
