I have a little problem regarding oracle
developer. I have CD which has deveoper 2000 rel 2.1 and
personal oracle 8 in it. Now I first installed personal oracle 8 in the default
home i.e orawin95.When I connected to the database
through SQL plus (personal oracle 8) it connects.
After that I installed developer 2000 rel2.1) in the
SAME home(if I enter a new home ,it disables the rst
one and al the contents are lost). It installed
correctly. However when I try to connect to the
database through FORMS or thru the SQLplus(of
developer) it hangs. In the sense it displays working
in the status bar after that it just hangs. If I press
contl+alt+del it shows "not responding".
Now
1.is it possible that developer 2000 and personal
oracle work only on win95 and winNT?
2.I have checked the tnsnames.ora file.I think its k.
3.Is there any other way to install the two
products. As i said when i install them in seperate
directories,it gives message saying "diable previos
default home" and then diables the previous
installation.
4.I have win98 on my system. And being my personal
machine ,I need to install both in the same machine.

hi monita,
jsut let me know what happend..when u do as i specified below...
start database
then go to dos promtc:>lsnrtcl start
then try to connect to oracle tru forms or sql plus suing connect string as u specified in tnsname.ora file..

u can get service name if u have already configured one
