How to open an excel or word document by pressing from my application menu [message #80423]

hi all,

just wanted to know if somebody knows how to open an excel document or word document from the menu or by clicking a button. You see, I have a word document that contains document like a help file, i wanted my user to view this, when pressing a command from my menu, anyone, pls help.........

If you are web deployed you can use web.show_document. It will open the appropriate program depending on the file type.

web.show_document(v_url, '_BLANK');
