When I try to load developer 6i on my Win XP pro laptop. I get a orainst.exe error. Someone told me that I can use the 8i database installer to load forms and reports. The installer screen asks for the location of the files for the product you want to install, but I don't know the location of the files or the name of the file on the CD.

I had the same problem when loading my OracleForms 6i. Whether this is the correct way here's what I did to fix the problem. So far no more problems.
Right mouse click under the setup filename.
Click on Properties
Go to the Compatibilty tab.
Adjust the mode to have select Windows 98/ Windows Me
Apply
Double clike the setup Icon.
