Our Oracle rep is trying to get my company to buy into Oracle 10g and move off a large SMP server onto smaller commodity hardware creating a grid infastructure. He claims that the Database and application servers are self monitoring. It seems there would have to be a incredible amount of pre planning as to where different pieces of the data base are owned ( what node) etc.
