Hi all,

I have a question on Oracle 8.1.7 parallel server Architecture.
It would be great if anyone please find time to respond to me.

We have an Oracle schema in an existing instance.
Now we have created a new instance.
Will we be able to access the old schema in the new instance
or I have to import the schema in the new instance to be able to access
the objects from the new instance ?

To be more specific are the Datafiles/oracle objects instance-specific ??

Thanks in advance...

Himansu

Himansu,
OPS is an architecture where you have a shared disk subsystem which is clustered and is accessible by all the nodes. You then have multiple instances access the same database.
What you are trying to achive is not possible if you are not on a clustered system.
You should refer to oracle documentation on OPS or RAC
