Hi,

I have successfully created a standby database on Oracle 9i.   They are failing over fine , no issues at all.  I am new to this, so I just need some final clarifications.    We have about 100 users using the database (client -server type application) with service names configured on tnsnames.ora on each client.  When the failover takes place, how do the client tnsnames.ora point to the standby database?    I believe that some kind of special configuration should be done in the tnsnames.ora to indicate that that particular service name has a standby server.  But how do I indicate it?   Please give me a sample tnsnames entry for clients.

Thanks

Check oracle documentation for further details on
FAILOVER_MODE parameter included in the CONNECT_DATA section of the connect
descriptor.

Best regards.
Using RMAN backups?, try RMV from www.otools.com.ar
