Hi All,

Recently production db server was crashed and db has been gone. We have the backup in tape but control file backup location was in database server. So we are unavailable with control file backup only available with data files backup.

Now I need to restore the database. Can any one suggest the procedure to restore the database.

Thanks,
Swaminath.

Start the instance in nomount (all you need for that is a pfile with one parameter, db_name) then tell rman to restore the spfile and controlfile from the tape backup.
