Hi Everybody!

We are having around 180 GB of Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.5.0 running in Windows 2003 Server with around 200 users.

Every Thursday night between 12:00PM to 01:00AM the database will be shutdown for taking weekly COLD BACKUP (C,R & D files).

Now my question is, how many days Archive Logs we have to retain/maintain as these days its generating around 20-25 GB of Archive Logs per day due to some purging process we are performing and facing disk space issue.

An early response to this is highly appreciated.

Thank You in Advance

The obvious answer is that you need all the archive logfiles since your last cold backup. But that is trivial, you knew that already.

You need to explain the problem a bit more. For example: why do you not make open backups? Why do you backup only once a week? Why do you not use incremental backups?
