Hi

1.This question is related to upgrading a Forms6i application to Forms11g
Can we directly open and compile forms in Forms11g or is there alternative steps

2.we have head start libraries qmslib50.pll , do we need to upgrade headstart as well, while upgrading what are steps involved, do we need to run the headstart table scripts as well?

3.what are the steps for upgrading webutil to 11g.

Here is a link to an answer I posted to a similar question on another knowledge base forum Experts Exchange. If you can't access it, here's the answer (this is from 2005) but should help in your question

"I have done exactly this. I have migrated from Oracle Forms 5.0 to 6i to 9i.

Oracle RECOMMENDS that you migrate step by step but you can migrate directly from 5.0 to 9i. What I did was first archived all the forms in a source control system (PVCS). Then checked out each form and opened up in 6i and re-compiled (fixed any errors) then saved, then checked them back in. Then repeated the process on 9i.

If you're going to have multiple versions of Oracle, install 5.0 first then 6i, then 9i. If you install 9i first, then a lower version it will screw things up in the registry (at least that's the problem I had). So you can have co-habitating Oracle Developer versions.

Oracle Developer doesn't need to be the same as the database. I've had Oracle 8i during the migration (eventually migrated the database to 9i).

Hi Jaramill,

Thanks for your update. Please let me know if Headstart is part of Forms11g. i.e., once we install Forms11g , headstart also will be available. This is my understanding.

What all steps we need to take to use Headstart in our application.

Thanks,
ninan

Unfortunately when I was installing Forms, 3 years ago there was no "Headstart" as part of Oracle Forms. Sorry can't help you there.
