Hello Folks,

I'm new to DBA & have a basic doubt in Oracle 11g R2 RAC one node. I've read through various blogs and Oracle websites but not clear of hardware requirement for Oracle 11g RAC R2 One node. Need a clarification.

1.Do we need two servers Host1 and Host2 to setup RAC one node?
2.We have only one server Host1. Is it possible to setup RAC one node on that server?

Best Regards,
Vimal

when all else fails, Read The Fine Manual
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E16655_01/rac.121/e17887/toc.htm

If you create two Virtual Machines on a single system, how many different hosts now exist?

Hi,

I also have same question as whether we can have one instance of database that is part of RAC? I mean can a database instance installed on a single server part of RAC without additional hardware? Can any one please explain in layman's terms.

Best Regards,
