Ask your sysadmin about what means:

Quote:

I don't know Linux (by the way which Linux?).
Maybe you can find someone in a Linux specific forum that can answer you from the information Oracle gave (and I quoted).

Read the following: http://kris-oradba.blogspot.fr/2008/05/ora-12801-ora-01114-ora-27072-and-linux.html

RMAN uses the same method for its backup files than for the temp files in the database.

You are backing up to the recovery catalog or same location?

What does this mean?
What is the relation of "recovery catalog" and backup "location"?

Michel

I mean the target DB backup metadata information is in the recovery catalog on a different location or in a control file at the same location where the database is.

Regards.
Rahul.

And what is the relation with a file IO error on a backup file?

And do NOT put useless empty lines in your posts.

Michel

Do not shot in the dark, it is just noise like adding 15 blank lines at then end of your post.
