Hi,
The report is a "group left and above type" report and report uses repeating frames and the desformat is PDF. We are trying to insert a new column into the pdf report.
We assumed that if we insert a summary column this would suffice the need of the hour and the new column should appear in the report. But as soon as we insert the summary column, the arrangement in paper layout is totally distorted, moreover the new column doesn't appear in the report.
Any pointers towards a solution would be much appreciated.

The solution would be to do it right way, not the wrong way.
With the information you posted a more specific solution is as impossible to provide as a solution to the "Why wasn't I able to go to the pub last night?" problem.
There is no way anybody beside you can know if the problem was your broken down car, the closed pub, your lack of money, or your wife not letting you leave the house.
You have the link to the documentation. Find the example that fits your problem and use it.
