hi,

I ve installed oracle 10g on the client m/c, and ve remote database. am trying to connect to remote databese through the report builder, but getting the error as

unable to connect to specified database
ora-12532 TNS : invalid argument.


And the thing is, am able to connect
remote databese through SQL prompt.

is anybody help me out as early ????

This is what Oracle says:
Oracle
ORA-12532: TNS:invalid argument

Cause: An internal function received an invalid parameter.

Action: Not normally visible to the user. For further details, turn on tracing and reexecute the operation. If error persists, contact Oracle Customer Support.


Though: does Developer's TNSNAMES.ORA file contain alias of the remote database? Is it correctly written? Did you research use of the TNS_ADMIN environment variable (there've been examples in the Forms forum (and perhaps even here, in the Reports forum as well)).

I had searched but didn't got t solution. could u please tell the exact steps to follow to solve my problem.

As of TNS_ADMIN, I have already done that (provided exact steps) - you'll have to improve your search skills.

As of contacting Oracle Customer Support, what "exact steps" do you need?
