Hi
I have oracle client 9.

will I be able to connect to Oracle 10g server with my client?

I am getting error as TNS names could not be resolved.

Yes, you should be able in general.

There *might* be bugs in some specific OS/Client variations, but if the Client is on the latest patch set 9.2.0.8 those should be fixed.

It is most likely a user error like bad tnsnames.ora
