Hello Everybody,

I am trying to prepare a stand by server, somehow i go stuck in the middle.

below is my case.

I have prepared my primary database (ORCL) and created the standby controlfile from the primary database, but when I try to startup the standby (Stand) database, i get the below error.

SQL> startup MOUNT pfile='D:\oracle\product\10.2.0\admin\stand\pfile\initstand.ora'
ORACLE instance started.

Total System Global Area 167772160 bytes
Fixed Size 1247876 bytes
Variable Size 62915964 bytes
Database Buffers 96468992 bytes
Redo Buffers 7139328 bytes
ORA-01103: database name 'ORCL' in control file is not 'STAND'

How do I get my standby database started with the controlfile having different DB name.

Appreciate your suggestions!

Regards,
Maddy.

Check Creating a Physical Standby Database for the appropriate parameters that need to be configured and all the details for creating a standby database.

I think the parameter db_name and db_unique_name in physical standby database's pfile were set wrong.

You should recheck them, and recheck the instance name which was created as "ORADIM" command!
