Hi Experts,
I am running a 10G Paper report from forms. Its a simple report which picks up data from 8 tables based on the parameters chosen by the user in the form.
The output of the report query is around 26,000 rows and the report goes upto 1300 pages.
Somtimes the report runs fine and sometimes it hangs up, and then the reports server also crashes and the reports queue hangs up.
I looked and found that this was a known oracle bug for long reports and it had to do with JVMOPTIONS on the reports server.
I increased it manually and it ran fine.
There is a patch available for this bug which patches the OAS and the DS.

Now my question is can I go with hardcoding the value or applying the patch?
Any ideas on why this bug is there as this report is a very simple query!!
I was also monitering the application server and saw that when this hangs the memory used by the javaw process crossed100mb and hung. When it ran normally it did never cross 35mb.
