Hi,

I have One question.

I have one production database and physical standby database of the Production. Now my stdby database is on mount state. If I fired ALTER DATABASE OPEN at the stdby database what will happen for the Production instance.

Will the production database goes to mount state automatically?

Pokhraj.

Nothing and you no more have a standby database.

You can't issue "Alter database open " on a standby database;
Instead you can issue "Alter database open read only"

This does not harm your primary database in any way.
You can shutdown your read only standby database , mount as normal standy,start recovery and continue normal standby operations after that.......
