Hi

I am trying to install 11.2 client in RHEL 5.5.

During the preconfiguration check it fails for all tests.

Ex : Even though i have 6 GB of RAM in System it is giving below issue for memory.

This is a prerequisite condition to test whether the system has at least 256MB (262144.0KB) of total physical memory. (more details)
Expected Value
 : n/a
Actual Value
 : n/a

I suspect this is some access issue in OS Level. I have already added my user to wheel, adm , root in RHEL

Still it is giving same issue. Hope this needs admin access to read system level config.

Can you please suggest what access is required and how this has to be provided.

Thanks in advance
Muthu

Did you manually verify all of the requirements are met, as listed in the Installation Guide (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/install.112/e24322/pre_install.htm#LACLI1249)

Check especially the kernel settings.

Hi Steve

I checked manually. Few for your reference. If some thing is wrong only that should fail in my view. But in my case all the prerequsites are failing. The below are few high level checks.

Kernel version .
[root@informatica ~]# uname -a
Linux informatica.localdomain 2.6.18-194.el5 #1 SMP Tue Mar 16 21:52:39 EDT 2010 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Memory
[root@informatica ~]# free
total used free shared buffers cached
Mem: 6106860 2276736 3830124 0 189672 1760684
-/+ buffers/cache: 326380 5780480
Swap: 6094840 0 6094840

Even though i have 3 gb memory unused , the memory check and swap check and kernel check all failed.

Not sure why ?? Aany suggestoins.

Hi

<snip>
I have already added my user to wheel, adm , root in RHEL

And where in the install instructions were you told to add your user to these groups? Your user (oracle) should be a member of 'oinstall' and 'dba'. That's all. It's detailed in the Installation Guide.

hi All
Thx for all your responses.I ran the fix script. Now almost all checks are passing except few as they are missing in OS level.

1.libaio-devel-0.3.106 (i386)
2.unixODBC-2.2.11 (i386)
3.unixODBC-devel-2.2.11 (i386)

My Unix version: RHEL 5.5 (x64).
Oracle 11G R2.

Any suggesstions on where i can get these packages downloaded. Hope these are 32 bit packages that oracle is expecting to be in 64 bit OS.

Thx
Muthu

do you really need ODBC? Oracle (SQL*Net) doesn't use it, only M$ SQL Server and other similar products.
