Would I be correct in assuming that you are stuck at step 9? If sdo, your problem is that you are using Windows, and your instructions are for Linux. You'll need to create the Windows service with the oradim utility.

Check your ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID.

It is possible to connect to database using sqlplus when i do not create any instance?

I do not create any instance on the standby server until step 9.

I'm working on the windows xp.
I'm using SET comment and define oracle_home and oracle_sid, but failed.

c:\>set

ORACLE_HOME=C:\app\Administrator\product\11.1.0\db_1
ORACLE_SID=ms112dgs
