Well, yes - it was funny at the beginning, but then it turned into a crowd syndrome - some people started to compete in spitting on OP which looks as bad as OP's bad (outrageous, actually) manners. So, reading through it, smiley went from Smile to Neutral to Sad. At the end, I don't find it funny any more.

Just remember - we have had a contest topic here too, which also wasn't a particularly good idea - we started to make fun of both questions and answers which, in my opinion, had serious influence on OraFAQ Forum quality. Lucky for us, we stopped with it in time.

Never thought so many people could be fooled by what, in my view, is clearly a troll.
[Edit: hm, just saw on Tom Kyte's blog he thinks so too.. Must admit I stopped reading the OTN-forum post after 2 pages, so maybe others mentioned it as well]

I think I'll start writing hilarious statements that occasionally appear on the Forum. Black Swan is the author of most of them (that amuse me). Here's the latest one:

You could just use "when others" in the exception section, but I hesitate to do that.

Why would anyone be frightened of suggesting "when others"?

I'm going to extend LF's "...I think I'll start writing hilarious statements that occasionally appear on the Forum..." to include valuable aphorisms. Here's one from http://www.orafaq.com/forum/mv/msg/180503/551248/0/#msg_551248

the more you try to bend the tool to your will rather than using the tool the way it wants to be used, the more likely it is you will have trouble.

That reminds me of a quote from Admiral Pellaeon in "Dark Force Rising":

I guess the same is true for tools, too. Wink

I learn something on Orafaq every day (though it is more often something about human nature than something technical).

Right! Include "Welcome to OraFAQ, the ultimate psychology forum" into the Guide

Problem free environment? In no particular order:
Deport all the users to a time long ago in a galaxy far far away
Send all the developers to gaol. For ever.
Assassinate the system administrators. Immediately.

It takes 1 woman 9 months to produce 1 baby.
Now you want to use 9 women to produce 1 baby in 1 month.

Thanks Barbara, now there is some reading for me to do (after I finish work, get home, feed the twins, get them to bed, have dinner, sit down for a bit ...) ok, might be a while before I get to it but the wiki 'cliff notes' were very interesting. Cheers Very Happy
