Have you been to docs.oracle.com today? I get this screen named "Oracle Help Centre" with lots of big tiles with silly patterns and only after loads of clicks can I actually get to the docs, which are now presented in a kind-of child like display that makes it really slow to read and navigate around. Does Larry think that I am still in the Kindergarten, and can't read anything unless it is in big type with pretty pictures?

OK, I know that I am on old man who thinks "it is new, therefore it is bad" but I never have I been so glad that I had the foresight to download all the documentation sets to my PC.

Thank you, Uncle Oracle.

Far more annoying than what they've done to the layout is what they've done to the search.
When I type instr in the search box I expect the main instr page in the SQL Language reference to be top of the list, it isn't even on the first page any more.

And now I've looked at the top page, yes that's rubbish.
I always had it bookmarked down at the level of the particular DB release I wanted.

+1

Searching for a specific book is now painful.
You can send your opinion, there is a form that appears on the left. At least once as now I have no more it, or maybe they remove it after too much "bring back our documentation" message.
At least they should let the "All books" tab/link (this is the case for 10g doc, why not for the other versions?).

I hate those tools which want to be smart and are just wasting our time.

Me too. I just wasted over half an hour trying to double-check on the syntax for the TABLE_EXISTS_ACTION Datapump clause. In the event I found Google to be more helpful Sad

Any one have a clue where they've hidden the utilities guide?
I want to look something up on datapump and I'm getting precisely nowhere.

11.2?

You have to click on Browse Our cloud Bookshelf. Obvious.

I've bookmarked 10gR2 utilities guide, so - if it suits your needs, here you go.

BTW what they did is simply ridiculous.

I had the same problem and found Google to be a better front-end.

John and LF - thanks. Now I know about the bookshelf link life is easier (my orginal link to 11g docs pointed to a level below the page with the bookshelf link)
gazzag - yup, I can find the utilities guide in the first page of google results. Probably should have thought of that, but at the same time I assumed they must have left a link to it somewhere

You have to wonder if there was team of very bored developers at oracle - there was nothing wrong with the original and this downgrade is worse in every way.

Does anyone know where are the links to download the whole documentation (E50529-01 zip).
I have found the OTN page but the only thing it gives is the name of the file and no link to it.

I've just come across another bit of lunacy: nowhere on docs.oracle.com is there a link to the Master Index for 12.x. At least, not where I can find it. I'm downloading the docs zip file again, I hope it's included.
