I want to retain backups on tape for 1 years...
and want to retain backups on disk for 1 month...
I make a script runs on each Sunday.
{
configure retention policy to redundancy 4
allocate channel for disk....
backup database...
delete noprompt obsolete...
release channel;

configure retention policy to redundancy 52...
allocate channel for tape...
backup backupset taken after 'sysdate-1'....
delete noprompt obsolete..
release channel
}

Is this is right...
My question while redundancy 4 delete obsolete will delete all backups including tape...
How to avoide it... OR can I configure retention policy for disk and tape different.

Regards,

archive backup is backupset for archivelogs.....
I want to retain 52 redundancy on Tape and 4 redundancy on DISK... AND archivelog for 5 days either backed up.
While setting redundancy 4 ....
Delete obsolete command will delete all backupsets and archivelogs ...

By the way, there is a problem with your keyboard: it randomly inserts "..." characters
