Hello everyone
Im a newbie on the forum....Currently preparing for the OCA 1z0-051 and 052
I installed the Oracle DB XE for practicing the exercises from the book (which did not mention to get any specific edition)
I´ve been hesitating between XE and standard edition, i understand that standard edition is oriented to RAC which i wont be needing
what is your opinion ? what did you installed to practice for the certification ? thanks!

I believe you misunderstood whatever you were trying to understand.

As any Oracle database version is free to download and install for learning purposes, it is up to you which one you'll choose.

1z0-051 is "SQL fundamentals" - any database will do for that purposes (XE is easier to install so I'd go with it).

1z0-052 is "Administration 1" - as I'm not a DBA, I'm most probably wrong person to answer this, but maybe, just maybe you'd rather prepare for it on a "full" database installation (i.e. different from XE).

thanks, indeed my question is related to what oracle db edition would be better for OCA certification studying purposes.
if getting the XE version would be ¨enough¨ or if sticking to the standard edition would be better

perhaps, someone who already took the test would like to share some opinion
thanks

For 1Z0-051, the XE database will give you essentially everything you need. The SQL covered by that exam will not use any features that are not present in the XE version of Oracle.

For 1Z0-052, there are a number of elements that are different in XE. For one, 1Z0-052 covers installation of the Oracle software and the Oracle database using the Oracle universal Installer (OUI) and Database Creation Assistant (DBCA) respectively. XE has neither of these, as it has a custom install process that allows for no configuration by users. There are various other topics that are for features that do not exist in XE: Data Recovery Advisor, Shared Server, Enterprise Manager Support Workbench, etc.)
