Dear All,

We are having Bi Publisher 10.1.3.4.1 standalone installed. We are having Excel 2007 installed on all user machines. Right now BI Publisher does not provide option as Excel 2007 as output format. There are only two options as Excel and Excel 2000.

I need Excel 2007 option here so that file will get saved as xlsx format only. I need this because right now users are getting excel file as xls on mail SO when user open this file in Excel 2007 he faces warning as "The file you are trying to open .xlsx is in a different format than specified by the file extension. verify the file is not corrupted and is from trusted source before opening the file. Do you want to open the file now?" and as the file is received by top management users, they dont want this warning.

This warning can be avoided by changes in registery i have tested that but we dont want this option as for how many mahcines we will keep on changing.

So is there any option so that we can get Excel 2007 option and file will get saved as xlsx?? We are on latest 10.1.3.4.1 released on 01-APR-2010

Thanks in advance

Regards
Nilesh

you can save Excel 2007 as xls(Excel 97-2003 workbook) and then you may open it from Excel 2003 or Excel 2007

Hi AlexAnd,

Thanks for the reply. But I think you didnt got my problem. Actually right now as report is created in excel the file come by mail is in xls format. and it is getting opened in Excel 2007. No Doubt about it.

My Problem is when we click on the attachment of the mail(for that file) it gives warning as specifed in ma question. If we click yes to that warning file is getting opened with all data no problem with this.

But this report goes to top management and they dont want that click. So for avoiding that I need a solution

when we create a report we attach a template to it. While attaching template there are options like Excel and Excel2000 so if we get the option Excel 2007 then file will get saved as xlsx and user will not face that warning.

Now the question is how to get that Excel 2007 for template.

Hi Alex,

THis is the report for top management and thats why the requirement is. Many reports are sent by BI alerts in xls format and for every report its giving warning.

We also checked using rtf but its not working. Is there any way to customize for xlsx ??? If excel 2007 option is there while selecting output then it will resolve all the issue.

Excel 2007 is a nice software but it fails to deliver quality to those applications which are not able to integrate with it. I don't think there is a genuine solution to this except the one cited above and it requires tough brain to crack this down.
