I am working in a bank as an system consultant, i have a SAN Storage Area and oracle as below.

SAN 1

This interface includes the DATA FILES of the oracle tablespace

SAN 2

SAN1 Mirrors the DATA FILES of the oracle tablespace to SAN 2

Questions ?

1. Can i rely on real time data recovery from SAN2 ?
2. if SAN1 (Data Files are currupted) will the SAN2 Data Files will be currupted as well.
3. If the SAN2 is currupted then what Oracle Features can be used to have uncurrupted data.

Thanks

Waiting for a prompt reply.

How is this a Data Guard question?

1. Can you? YOU are the system consultant we are just DBBMS guys. What service do you guarantee with your mirror?
2. Depends of the corruption I think, but once again YOU are the system consultant and this is not an Oracle issue
3. Oracle does not care about SAN2. Its files are on SAN1.

Michel

Thanks for the information

I just need to know, what are oracle features to use failover concept

for example

when primary server gets down then secondary server gets up as a primary server and respond to client request.

Data Guard, see your other topic, or RAC depending on the failover against what: disk -> Data Guard, server -> RAC.

If the data files or redo or archivlog is corrupted then the secondary should be up as primary server

the Dataguard is a good choice to configure or RAC

As I said, Data Guard against disk failure, RAC against server (OS) failure (Data Guard could also do it but slower and with, maybe, data lost).
