dear all;
in our company we are going for ebusiness suite application, we have four production servers and two test servers.
Production:
we decided on making two out of the four production for database and the other two for application. i would like to ask which is better:
1)to RAC the two databases and another rac for the application this way we'll have a database cluster and an application cluster.
2)to RAC the database and to mirror the application so we'll have a database cluster and two mirrored application servers.
3) to clone them so we'll have two perfectly mirrored databases and two perfectly mirrored application.
personally i think choice number 3 is out of the question mirroring two databases is stupid, if not inaplicable.
now talking about our testing enviroment:
we would like to replicate our production enviroment to our testing, we have two servers for the testing enviroment. which is better:
1) application and database each on a seperate server.
2) cluster the servers and put application and database on it.however the servers which will be holding the application will have higher load than the server holding part of the databse. in other words first server will hold 100% of the application and 50% of the database, the second server will just hold 50% of the database. since its impossible to spread the application as in the database. is it possible to manage the services so that: first server 100% application +30% database, second server 70% databse.
please dont forget that the production should be cloned to the test enviroment. does rapid cloning support RAC-Single ? because if we choosed to cluster the production then clone it to testing ...
